MySuperProposal guy is Rand Fishkin

Now I first met Rand last year. He seemed like a successful young guy with an ongoing smile on his face. He wore yellow pumas which I thought was odd, but it stood out and I remembered him for it. After going to seomoz.org today I was able to enjoy his marriage proposal to his girlfriend, well now fiancé. Rand proposed on a commercial that was played during her favorite show Veronica Mars. Now I wish I watched Veronica Mars because I would have loved to see this live on my big screen. That would’ve been even more of a trip than it was to see it on his blog.

So I feel compelled to add Rand to my favorite peeps list because I am such a hopeless romantic and I got such a kick out of watching that. However, after further review of the video…I noticed the girlfriend hit start on her controller and then the commercial aired immediately, so that was weird. And what about the fact that she was being video taped? Wouldn’t she suspect something was going on with someone video taping her? I hope this wasn’t another “Bridzilla” marketing stunt. You know where the bride pretended to cut off all her hair and went ballistic – it aired on YouTube. Over 9 million people logged in and watched that. Come to find out, we were all duped. I hope Rand’s fiance and her endless screeching and ‘oh my gods’ was for real.

If it was fake, it could go down as being one of the greatest marketing stunts/link bait schemes ever (albeit short lived). If it was real, then like I said…I’m a hopeless romantic and think it’s charming. Only time will tell.

It took the Bridzilla girls a few months to fess up to the truth, although it did get them on all the morning shows. Oh wait…wasn’t Rand and his fiance supposed to do that too?
