Stumble Users and Photos

Date November 14, 2007

In my experience, Stumble users like interesting photos.  Whether they are funny, beautiful or just unique, many of my Stumble friends react positively when I send them images that I think they’d like.

I’m convinced that the strong traffic results from Stumble comes with the follow up thumbs up and the friends that share with other friends and so on.  When you submit a story or site and see that over 40 people have reviewed it or thumbed it up that’s when the numbers start going through the roof. I’ve seen this a lot when I’ve stumbled photos.  Here’s a 4 week example of what happens when your Stumble friends kick in.

I think that if the content is appealing to the masses and is visually stimulating or somehow entertaining, results like this can be achieved quite easily.  Pictures work great in Stumble and it’s easy to share a funny or interesting photo with friends.  I’d much rather get a cool photo from someone than a video or a blog post loaded with a bunch of content for me to read.

Give it a try…find the inner photographer in you and get creative.  The holidays are coming up and there are going to be some great photo opportunities all around you.

All you need to do is use the ‘Send to’ button and the rest is pretty self explanatory.

After you send your stumble to your friends, they will see a small red number next to their Stumble button.  The next time they hit it, your stumble will show up.  Assuming you aren’t spamming them and your images are interesting and quickly grab their attention, they will most likely thumbs it up.  Adding a comment or asking them a question can help to build relationships with fellow Stumblers and shows that you took the time to add some thought to what you were sending them.  They may reply to you or they may comment on their site review.
